Who runs Roomdraft
Roomdraft is run by an individual developer. Contact details are on the contact page.
Your plans
Plans you draw are stored in your browser (local storage and IndexedDB) and in files you choose to save. They are not uploaded to us. A plan only leaves your device if you:
- create a share link — the plan is inside the link itself (after the
#), which browsers never send to a server; whoever has the link can see the plan; - attach it to a bug report — it is stored with the report, privately, and used only to find the problem;
- use "Send my plan to help improve the app" in the File menu — room names, text labels, notes, names of your own furniture and the tracing image are removed first, and the plan is stored without any visitor id or address, so it cannot be linked to you.
Analytics never contains plans, room names, label text or file names.
Analytics
We measure how Roomdraft is used so we can make it better. There are two levels.
Level 1 — always on, anonymous
No cookies, no visitor id, nothing stored in your browser. We count:
- page views with the site you came from (address without its query), campaign tags (
utm_…), your country (worked out from your IP address by the analytics service, which then discards the address), device type, browser family, screen size and language; - how often each action happens (for example "a plan was exported"), with no way to connect two actions to the same person;
- page speed (Web Vitals, load time) and error messages, with quoted text and file names removed.
Why: to know whether people find the site, whether pages load fast, and what breaks. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a working website, using data that cannot identify you.
Level 2 — only if you choose "Accept analytics"
- a random visitor id and session id stored in your browser, to count returning visitors and see retention after 1, 7 and 30 days;
- the order of pages, tools and actions in a session, time spent in each tool, and time until the first finished room;
- session recordings and heatmaps, with everything you type hidden; the drawing area is recorded at a few frames per second, so recordings can show your plan as drawn on screen;
- plan statistics: numbers of walls, rooms, doors, windows and furniture, total floor area, room types and furniture types used, units, and features used (3D, PDF, tracing, share links);
- search words typed in the furniture library, the command search and Help, cut to 60 characters.
Pages that open a shared plan always stay at Level 1, because the plan is in their address.
Why: to understand where people get stuck and which features matter. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Your choice
Choose on the banner, and change it at any time with "Privacy settings" at the bottom of each page or View and units → Usage analytics in the editor. Withdrawing stops Level 2 at once and deletes its ids from your browser. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as "Only necessary" and do not ask.
Who processes it, and for how long
Analytics is processed by PostHog in the European Union, through our own server, so your browser does not contact them directly. Data is kept for 12 months and then deleted. We do not sell data, use it for advertising, or use fingerprinting or any other way to follow people who did not accept.
Feedback and bug reports
If you send an idea or a bug report, we store what you write, and your email address if you give one. We use the email only to reply; it is never shown publicly and never sent to the analytics service. Ideas are shown publicly after we approve them. Bug reports are private and include technical details (browser, screen size, page) and, if you choose, your plan. To vote without an account we store a random id in a cookie (rd_voter, one year) and a salted hash of your IP address — never the address itself.
We keep feedback until it is no longer useful, and delete it on request.
Server logs
Our server keeps technical logs, including IP addresses, for security and to stop abuse. They are deleted after 30 days.
Cookies and storage
rd_voter— only when you vote on the feedback board (see above).rd_admin— only for the site owner, when signed in to moderate feedback.- Browser storage for your plans and settings (
planner:…), which stays on your device, and your analytics choice (roomdraft:consent). - Level 2 analytics ids (
ph_…) — only after you accept.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct or delete data about you, and to object. Write to us via the contact page. Level 1 data cannot be linked to you, so it cannot be looked up or deleted per person.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes too.
